A business meeting of the AssociationPresident provides a “State
of the Association” address

The Executive Director gives a report
-
The Treasurer gives a report

each)
-
Members running for election to the Board of Directors are
introduced

are presented and discussed

New proposals being considered by any structural entity within
CAHPERD that affect the membership at large are presented and
discussed
-
Members can voice concerns, make a motion to veto actions taken
by the BOD in the previous year, make suggestions, and propose
ideas.
WHEN?
At the annual State CAHPERD Conference - at a time when no other
programs are being presented
COMPARISON WITH THE CURRENT STRUCTURE:
-
The name would be changed from “Town Hall Meeting” to “Annual
Members Meeting.”
-
ALL leaders (District Coordinators, District Leaders, Directors,
Presidents, Vice Presidents, Council Members, Committee Chairs,
Committee Members, and School District Liaisons) and interested
members would be expected to attend this very important
meeting.
-
This is the one time during the year when leaders and members
at large have a chance to get together, discuss issues and
have their voices heard. The current structure does not provide
a time for members to ask questions, voice concerns, discuss
new proposals, discuss controversial issues, or discuss the
ballot measures they are being asked to vote on.
-
In the current structure, the candidates for President generally
give their platform speeches at a General Session. In the proposed
structure, the Annual Members Meeting appears to be a more
appropriate venue.
