Janys Antonio
VP, Dance

Janys cannot remember a time that she did not dance.  Classically trained in ballet from the moment she could reach a ballet barre, she has found her passion in teaching all forms of dance and sharing the magic that only dance can bring.  Janys received her BA and her MFA from the University of California at Irvine.  She has studied with such greats as Anthony Tudor, Eugene Loring, and Joe Tremaine.  Janys currently teaches at California State University, San Bernardino.  She also is the director of the University Dance Company, which is also based at CSUSB. In addition, Janys is the Program Coordinator for the popular Southwest Dance, Movement and Acro-Sports Workshop, another great CAHPERD sponsored annual event. Janys spends much of her time away from the university, presenting lyrical jazz at various dance conferences and workshops.  Her goal is to raise the awareness of the value of dance in education, including both the physical benefits and the emotional/spiritual benefits and to keep dance strong in California education.
