Janet A. Seaman, P.E.D., Chair
Dr. Seaman retired from California State University, Los
Angeles, before serving as Executive Director of one
of AAHPERD's national associations, from which she retired
in 2006. She is a past president of CAHPERD and has served
in numerous other capacities in CAHPERD, Southwest District,
AAHPERD and the Western Society of Physical Education
for College Women. She’s a recipient of the Verne
Landreth and Phyllis Blatz Exemplary Leadership Awards.
She has organizational experience as both volunteer and
staff in non-profits and an advanced degree in business.
Jan was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2006. |

Phyllis Blatz
Phyllis Blatz is a past president
of CAHPERD and the National Association for Girls and Women
in Sport (NAGWS). She taught physical education, served as
department chair, coached and officiated at the high school
level for 32 years. From 1988-1999 she was Executive Director
of CAHPERD. Phyllis recently retired as a university supervisor
for student teachers in Kinesiology at CSU, Long Beach. CAHPERD
has honored her by establishing the Phyllis A. Blatz Exemplary
Leadership Award, which is presented annually at the state
conference. |

Kathleen Cordes
Kathleen Cordes was elected
to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2005. She served
formerly as Vice President for the Girls & Women in Sport
and Recreation Divisions of CAHPERD. Kathleen has served in
several administrative and teaching positions in non-profits
and colleges in the U.S. and Venezuela. She was the first woman
to coach a varsity sport at the University of Notre Dame in
Indiana. She has received numerous awards both from CAHPERD
and nationally and is author or co-author of six textbooks
in the field of recreation. Cordes is a Fellow in the American
Leisure Academy. |

Jeffrey L. Dobyns, M.D.
Dr. Dobyns is a Board
Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. He attended medical school at
University of California-Irvine, where he graduated with Alpha-Omega-Alpha
medical honors. He is a member of the California Medical Association,
the American Medical Association, and the Western Orthopedic
Association. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopedic
Surgery for U.C. Irvine. Dr. Dobyns is the head of the Children’s
Hospital of Orange County pediatric trauma/fracture service.
He currently practices in Orange County, California. |

Bob
Flavin
Bob Flavin, a Verne Landreth Award
Recipient, has been a CAHPERD member for over 40 years serving
the association at the unit, district and state levels. He retired
from Montebello Unififed School District in 1987, following
many years as Coordinator of Physical Education and Recreation. Bob
was President of CAHPERD in 1986-87, and has served the Foundation
as an Advisory Member since its inception. He was elected
to the Foundation Board of Trustees in 2007. |

Ed Greaves, Ed.D.
Ed Greaves has been a member of CAHPERD for over thirty-five
years. During this period he has served as President,
Budget-Chair/Treasurer, Southern District President, Adapted
Physical Education Section Chair and is currently serving
as Chair of the Retired Members Section. His professional
experience in education includes over 35 years teaching
K-12 and service as a special education administrator in
public and non-public schools. He has also been a
full-time professor and adjunct professor at the college
and university levels. Ed's interest on the Foundation
Board is fundraising and ensuring that the goals of the
Foundation enhance and support the goals of CAHPERD. |

Barbara
Harris
Barbara
Harris was Editor-in-Chief for Shape magazine for 15 years
and currently serves as Editorial Advisor. She is Past Chair
of the Board of Directors of the American Council on Exercise.
She is on the Board of Directors for the National Wellness
Institute and serves as advisor to the California Governor's
Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Barb is currently
enrolled in the Master's of Divinity program at the Pacific
School of Religion and at The Chaplaincy Institute for
Arts & Interfaith
Ministries in Berkeley, CA. Barb was elected to the Board
of Trustees in 2007. |

Patricia Harvey
Patricia Harvey retired from
the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1991, serving
25 years in the Athletics Office as Assistant Commissioner.
She was actively involved in the development of interscholastic
athletic programs for girls in LAUSD and the state of California.
She was CAHPERD President in 1991-92 and is a recipient of
the Honor Award, the Verne Landreth Award and Phyllis Blatz
Exemplary Leadership Award. She served in numerous state,
district and unit offices and as Chair of the CAHPERD Foundation
from 1999 to 2007. |

Karen M Johnson, Ph.D.
Dr. Karen Johnson is
a Professor Emerita of Kinesiology and Physical Education
and former Associate Dean of the College of Health and
Human Services at California State University, Los Angeles.
In addition to serving the Foundation as Secretary-Treasurer,
she is chair of the CAHPERD Investment Committee. She is
also chair of the Diversity Commission and Structure and
Function Committee of USA Volleyball. Karen is a Past President
of the Western Society of Physical Education for Women. |

Russell W. Ketron, CFPR
Russ has been an Investment Advisory
Associate through Protected Investors of America since 1978.
A graduate from San Francisco State in 1967, Russ taught
investment courses at three colleges. As Bill Harkness's
Investment Advisor, Russ was a founding board member of the
CAHPERD Foundation. He is a past president of both the North
Bay Financial Planning Associations (IAFP & ICFP now the FPA). Russ has served
as an outside director of a mutual fund board and is a contributing
author of two financial resource books, Wealth Enhancement & Preservation
and Giving, Philanthropy for Everyone. He will be the District
Governor of Rotary District 5150 for 2008-2009. |

Antoinette Marich
Toni Marich is a dual disciplinarian
in dance and physical education who began teaching at the
high school level in Los Angeles and the South Bay. She taught
in Lima, Peru for five years at Colegio Villa Maria and is
currently a lecturer at CSU, Dominguez Hills. Toni served
as the Vice-President for Dance of CAHPERD. She was a member
of the Journal Editorial Board and the Legislative Committee.
She has served in a variety of conference planning roles
at the local, state, national and international levels and
continues to advocate for a dance credential in California. |

Freddie Thompson-Esters
Freddie Thompson-Esters
is a past president of CAHPERD and past vice president for
the Dance Division. She presently teaches Dance at Hollywood
High School Performing Arts Center (LAUSD) in Los Angeles.
Freddie is the recipient of CAHPERD's Dance Educator of the
Year—1994, SWD-AAHPERD Dance Educator
of the Year, 1995 and the CAHPERD Honor Award-1995. She
has served on many committees for CAHPERD, both at the state
and local levels. Freddie’s most recent leadership
role is Vice-President of Dance for Southwest District-AAHPERD,
2007-2008. |
