the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles
MISSION To promote healthy lifestyles through quality education for all
populations and provide leadership to school, community and
statewide programs
in the areas of health, physical education, recreation, dance
and sports.
GOALS
Professional Development
A primary role of surpassing importance in CAHPERD is to
encourage, guide and support professional growth and
development in health,
physical education, recreation, dance and other movement-related
programs based on individual needs, interests and capabilities.
Virtually every member of the Association will be positively
influenced through
appropriate participation.
Quality Lifestyle
Communicate the importance of health, physical education,,
recreation,, dance and other movement-related activities
as they contribute
to human well-being and growth and development of individuals.
Educating
people to importance of wellness (health/fitness/stress
management/lifestyle choices) is an important dimension
of current practice and
future growth.
Applied Research
Encourage and facilitate research, which will enrich
health, physical education, dance and other movement-related
activities
and disseminate
the findings. Through applied research the Association
seeks to advance knowledge and expand understanding
of health and
its relationship
to exercise in promoting a quality lifestyle for all
Californians.
Public Relations
Coordinate and administer planned programs of professional,
public, and governmental relations that will enhance
the public image
and improve the status of CAHPERD.
Association Enhancement
Respond to and develop relevant programs/plans and
activities that are timely and responsive to the
Association and
its members.
Promote Diversity
Develop and implement a variety of programs to
promote awareness and sensitivity within the
membership of
CAHPERD regarding
California equity and diversity issues in HPERD
professions.
Educational Leadership
CAHPERD has and will continue to develop and
evaluate standards and guidelines for personnel
and programs
in health, physical
education,
recreation, dance and other movement-related constituencies. |
