PAST EVENT
The First Annual Jack LaLanne
Celebrity "Golfreation" Event was held on March 10, 2011.
Hosted by:
Title Sponsor Jamba Juice and the LaLanne Family have attracted a star-studded list of sports and entertainment celebrities to play in this unusual golf event. Hosted by Fitness Icon (and Jack LaLanne’s wife of 51 years) Elaine LaLanne, the JLCGE is attracting such well-known figures as Tennis Star Jimmy Connors, former 49ers Dave Fiore, Eric Davis and Guy McIntyre, Baseball great Jerry Royster, and former Bengal and Steeler Adrian Ross, due to its fun and fresh approach to the traditional celebrity golf tournament.
Participants of the JLCGE will actually play three, five-hole, mini-golf tournaments in “Scramble,” “Shamble,” and “Best Ball,” formats. After playing the five-hole mini-tournaments, participants will then be challenged to physical activity feats such as the “Play Ball!” or the “One, Two, Three, Go! Scramble.” Participants need not be great golfers to win valuable prizes and do well in the JLCGE!
Immediately following Jamba Juice’s JLCGE, a Celebrity “Golfreation” Event Awards Banquet will be held at the Portola Hotel and Spa, featuring respected speaker (and son of boxer Joe Louis), national The First Tee Chief Executive Officer Joe Louis Barrow, Jr. Members of the LaLanne Family will join him in the Keynote Address.
Pre-Tournament Activities: 11:15am to 12:45pm
- Welcome & Group Warm Up Activity - 51 Jumping Jacks
- Lesson plan “anyone can play” Demo.
- TFTCC Participant Showcase by The Avrit Brothers
- Mini-Course “The First Tee Way”
- Pre-Tournament Player Warm Up
- Ceremonial First Shot – Elaine LaLanne
"Golfreation" Event 1pm to 6pm
Golf Course Formats:
5-Holes Traditional Scramble:
Each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed.
5-Holes Shamble (Best Drive, own ball in…Best one of four)
Like in a scramble, all members of a team tee off and the best ball of the four tee shots is selected. All players move their balls to the spot of the best ball. From this point, the hole is played out at stroke play, with all members of the team playing their own ball into the hole.
5-Holes Best Ball (Best two of four)
Each player on the team plays his or her own golf ball throughout the round, and on each hole the low 2 scores - or "best two balls" - of the group serves as the team score. Example: Player A gets a 5, B gets a 4, C gets a 7, D gets a 8, then the team score for that hole is 9,..Because the low scores of the group were B's 4 and A’s 5, which totals 9.
Activity Holes: (6th, 12th & 18th)
6th Hole - SNAG Hole Players use snag clubs on entire hole (Best one of four)
12th Hole - “Play Ball”: Players alternate shots with selected sports balls.
1 = Football, 2 = Baseball, 3 = Soccer Ball & 4 = Rubber Ball - Players will alternate shots with their selected ball. Each shot must be attempted in the proper style of the sports ball selected (Football passed, Soccer ball kicked etc.) Team will keep score while moving towards the target on the green, the team has completed the hole when the first sports ball hits target.
18th Hole- 1,2,3 “GO” Scramble: (Hit & Run)
All players hit at the exact same time. (form a line on tee box) Players will then run to their balls. The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot. Then all players will play second shot at the same time again. This procedure with continue until ball is hole. Note: Keep a SAFE distance from each other while hitting.
Awards Banquet 7pm
Banquet dinner cost is included in Golf Tournament Fee![]()
