The State Council on Adapted Physical
Education (SCAPE) is the working body of the Adapted Physical
Education Section of the General Division of the California
Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation,
and Dance. It's purpose is to:
Promote well developed and accepted
practices in health, physical education, recreation,
and dance for individuals with disabilities throughout
the state of California.
Encourage the promotion and development
of quality physical education programs for individuals
with disabilities in schools and colleges through the
state of California with the Adapted Physical Education
Guidelines in California Schools <http://www.napeconference.org/Guidelines.htm> .
Encourage the promotion and development
of quality professional preparation programs of adapted
physical education in higher education.
Promote the National Conference
on Physical Activity for the Exceptional Individual
and the annual state CAHPERD conference.
