The State Council on Adapted Physical Education (SCAPE) is the working body of the Adapted Physical Education Section of the General Division of the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. It's purpose is to:

  1. Promote well developed and accepted practices in health, physical education, recreation, and dance for individuals with disabilities throughout the state of California.
  2. Encourage the promotion and development of quality physical education programs for individuals with disabilities in schools and colleges through the state of California with the Adapted Physical Education Guidelines in California Schools <http://www.napeconference.org/Guidelines.htm> .
  3. Encourage the promotion and development of quality professional preparation programs of adapted physical education in higher education.
  4. Promote the National Conference on Physical Activity for the Exceptional Individual and the annual state CAHPERD conference.
