After conference FAQs
CEUs were offered through San Jose State. You can purchase 1 or 2 CEUs depending on how many hours of the conference you attend. 10 hours (of learning time) for each unit. The cost per unit is $60. There was a table in the registration area, at the conference, to sign up. Transcripts will be available from San Jose State approximately 1-2 weeks after the conference end.

4. You can request up to 5 official and unofficial transcripts.
5. CEU/transcript requests are processed after the continuing education program has concluded and an attendance roster has been received. Transcripts are usually received within 1-2 weeks of the program’s end date.

All cancelations and refunds for the conference should have been made prior to the conference (the pre-registration forms states 1/19/18). If a refund was approved, there is a $25 processing fee as was noted on the pre-registration paperwork. Please allow up to 4 weeks from the end of the conference for refunds to be processed. Oakland Marriott City Center does not have courtesy shuttle from the Oakland Airport.
Transportation to and from the Marriott:
The 12th street BART station is right across the street from the Marriott.
You will need to make one transfer of trains between the airport and Marriott
If coming from Walnut Creek, Concord, or Dublin, there still will be one transfer between trains.

OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:
Amanda Stanec, Ph.D.
Founder: Move, Live, Learn
Dr. Amanda Stanec was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada where she attended and played soccer for St. Francis Xavier University. Upon moving to the US, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she attained a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Physical Education and Sport Psychology. Completely devoted to her field, she enrolled in a PhD program in Kinesiology within the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia, where she was recognized as the outstanding doctoral student in her graduating year (2006). More recently, Amanda was honored as the 2016 young alumna of the year by St. Francis Xavier University.
Further achievements include the publication of more than twenty articles, as well as co-authoring several book chapters related to physical education, sport, health, and wellness topics. Most recently, Amanda has led projects on behalf of the International Olympic Committee, the Association of the Summer Olympic International Federations, and the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation.
Amanda's most important work is, along with her partner Jim, raising their three kids in an active and nature-filled way.
.Martha James-Hassan, Ph.D.
Martha James-Hassan is a researcher, teacher, and leader with nearly 25 years of experience in urban education.
Dr. James-Hassan is a member of the faculty at Morgan State University, as an assistant professor in the School of Education and Urban Studies. Dr. James-Hassan earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Kinesiology in 1993, her Master’s in Inquiry Education from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota in 2002, and her Doctorate in Critical Pedagogy from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2009. Her current research agenda involves investigating in-service teacher professional development, cultural fluency, and interdisciplinary education. She is considered a national expert in the Common Core State Standards and equity.
